Neural Therapy

A Gentle Approach to Healing

“The intelligent use of the autonomic system will one day become the most important part in the art of healing.” – Von Hering, 1925

Neural therapy has its roots in the early 1900s and has become a leading healing method in Europe countries on the forefront of innovative medical therapies. Dr. Sienna has received extensive training in Germany in neural therapy. Increasingly recognized across the United States and Europe, this therapy offers a safe and effective way to address chronic pain and a broad spectrum of health issues. At its core, neural therapy targets autonomic dysregulation, which is often linked to a variety of diseases including hypertension, heart disease, cancer, autoimmune conditions, infections, anxiety/depression and chronic pain.

It's ease of administration, affordability, and convenience make it highly beneficial options for those seeking relief from chronic pain or a reset of their nervous system.

WHAT IS NEURAL THERAPY?

Neural therapy involves the strategic placement of procaine, a short-acting anesthetic, to diagnose and manage symptoms caused by overstimulation of the sympathetic nervous system which is a branch of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). Overstimulation results in chronic pain, disease, inflammation and is at the core of ill health. Essentially, neural therapy aims to restore homeostasis, as true healing cannot occur in a dominant sympathetic state.

The ANS plays a crucial role in regulating vital functions in our bodies—everything from breathing and digestion to hormone production and immune responses. It comprises two branches:

  • Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS): Responsible for the “fight, flight, freeze, or fawn” response.

  • Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS): Facilitates “rest, digest, and heal.”

When trauma occurs, the ANS can create "interference fields," which are areas that disrupt normal signaling and lead to chronic inflammation, fatigue, and disease. Common causes of interference fields include:

  • Scar tissue

  • Chronic illness

  • Physical and emotional trauma

  • Surgical procedures

  • Infections

  • Childbirth

  • Vaccinations

  • Tattoos

  • Dental procedures/cavitations/infections

How Does Neural Therapy Work?

Understanding the ANS and interference fields is key in understanding how neural therapy operates.  In interference fields, cells have abnormal electrical charges that send erratic signals to the brain, typically resulting in a chronic sympathetic dominant state.

During a neural therapy session, local anesthetic is injected into these abnormal areas. This process normalizes the electrical charge of the cells, improving their  function and nutrient exchange, leading to pain relief and enhanced healing.

The Injection Process

Neural therapy injections utilize a local anesthetic called procaine and can be approached in four main ways:

1. Local Injections: Administered just below the skin at specific points like scars or acupuncture points.

2. Segmental Injections: Targeting  skin over spinal nerve bundles.

3. Deeper Injections: Reaching autonomic ganglia like the stellate or celiac.

4. IV Infusions: Delivering procaine into a vein to stabilize the autonomic nervous system, alleviating pain and improving mood.

Because procaine is an anesthetic, most patients tolerate these injections well with minimal discomfort.

THE BENEFITS OF NEURAL THERAPY

Essentially,  neural therapy is a reset for your body, restoring the healing potential of damaged cells. During your initial visit, we will take a comprehensive medical history to create a tailored treatment plan.

Neural therapy offers numerous benefits for chronic symptoms, including:

  • Restored Gut Health: Improves gastrointestinal issues like IBS.

  • Enhanced Organ Function: Alleviates headaches, brain fog, and high blood pressure.

  • Relief from Chronic Lymph Congestion: Supports detoxification and healing.

  • Reduced Joint and Muscle Pain: Lowers inflammation, aiding repair without surgery.

Why Procaine?

Procaine offers several benefits, including:

1. Antioxidant & cytoprotective effects

2. Anti-inflammatory properties

3. Calming effects that lower stress hormones

4. Short-acting with vasodilating properties

Conditions Treated

1. Hormonal issues (PCOS, infertility)

2. Anxiety and depression

3. Chronic pain

4. GI disorders (GERD, IBS)

5. Fibromyalgia

6. Chronic fatigue disorder

7. Allergies and asthma

8. And much more!

The number of treatments varies by individual. Some may find relief after a single session, others may require multiple treatments.  Most patients find repeat treatments bring longer lasting benefits.

I recommend supportive treatments to accompany neural therapy, including ozone, IV therapy, photobiomodulation and sauna. These modalities enhance detoxification and prolong the effects.
